Request for custom domain / ssl certificate
What is a Web Domain?
A web domain is simply the name of a website. Ex. Facebook.com, Wikipedia.org, Google.com
What is an SSL Certificate?
An SSL Certificate (Secure Sockets Layer Certificate) is a layer of encryption to your website that allows sensitive information such as credit card info to be transmitted securely online.
If you ALREADY OWN a domain you would like to use, follow steps 1-3 below
1. Along the Left side of CBHR4U click “People & Profiles”
2. In the dropdown menu, click “Request Website”
3. From here, it will ask you “Do you wish to use an address you already own?”
- If yes, select “Yes” and paste in the correct web URL into the box labeled “URL eg. MyDomain.com” You will also need to provide your login credentials to the domain service you use. When finished click “Submit”
If you DO NOT already own a domain you would like to use, follow the steps below
1. Along the Left side of CBHR4U click “People & Profiles”
2. In the dropdown menu, click “Request Website”
3. From here, it will ask you “Do you wish to use an address you already own?”
If you do not own a domain, select “No”
From here you will need to give 3 options that could potentially become your permanent domain name. If all 3 options are already taken, the IT team will reach out and assist you in finding one that works. If your name could easily be misspelled, you may want to consider abbreviating it or find a different solution. Lastly, most of the good names such as “searchdaytonhomes.com” have already been taken and you will need something more specific to you. It is also recommended that the URL ends in “.com” Once done click “Submit”
Please contact the IT dept. at support@coldwellbankerishome.com with any questions or assistance. Once you have clicked “Submit” IT will work on setting up your domain and pointing it at your website as well as getting your SSL set up and ready too. The IT team may contact you with further questions.
